City and university

The city plays host to the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia, one of Italy’s and Europe’s most prestigious educational institutions. The “Enzo Ferrari” Department of Engineering is based in Modena and many of its students, studying either Mechanical Engineering or Vehicle Engineering, are College members. These courses make a unique contribution to the education and prospects of the students who take them, due to the courses’ close focus on the needs of the mechanical engineering and automotive industry at both a local and international level.

More generally, the university’s 75 degree courses, spanning the disciplines of law, economics, medicine, sciences and humanities, enable students to choose a university learning programme that is the right match for their own personal vocation. The aim of this broad offering – underpinned by internationally recognised pathways and research centres within the University – is to impart knowledge of high professional and strategic value both in the employment market and for the purposes of post-graduate specialisation.

With its diverse and competitive range of university study opportunities and its variety of higher-education centres for the fine arts, Modena provides a fertile environment for students to pursue their ambitions and personal development against a social, cultural and economic backdrop that is dynamic, industrious and steeped in history. This is the context in which Fondazione Collegio San Carlo successfully combines centuries-old tradition with a focus on contemporary needs; local roots with an international spirit; and standards of excellence with a human-centric ethos.
